A Avani home focuses on repairing the psychological, emotional, and social damage affecting
rescued former child laborers. Our own social workers evaluate the well being of each child emotionally,
nutritionally, behaviorally, socially, and academically.
Many of the children are first generation learners and are usually older than their age
appropriate standard peer group. We not only prepare these children for the next step in their education,
but train them in a vocation that will keep them out of the brickyard labor camps,
sweat shops and dangerous fatories.
Avani offers an Advanced Education Program on site for all our
students and has tutors on staff.
A community of teachers, staff, family and students ensure each child has
access to daily support and encouragement.
Avani is a nongovernment organization (NGO) whose
mission is to protect children, provide education and
improve the lives of at-risk children in India.
